Warangal: A Task Force police team raided a ration shop of Kancha Nagaraju under Hanamkonda police station limits on Wednesday and seized 110 quintals while being loaded into a mini-truck to smuggle them. They have seized the rice worth Rs 2.75 lakhs, weighing machine and the truck.
“On interrogation, the dealer revealed that he had been selling PDS (Public Distribution Scheme) rice illegally to traders and suppliers in the surrounding villages and also transporting it to other states, needy persons and poultry farms at high price to make easy bucks,” the police said.
The seized property along with the accused have been handed over to Hanamkonda police for further action.
“The accused are Kancha Nagaraju, Gudida Prabhakar, Nomula Sravan and MD Jafer of Hanamkonda,” said Additional DCP Vaibhav R Gaikwad. Inspectors Ch Srinivas Ji, R Santhosh, Sub-Inspector S Premanandam and others took part in the raid.
