Hyderabad: Telangana Rythu Power Distribution Company Limited (TGRPDCL) Chairman & Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui said renewable energy generation capacity was 10,642 MW during the financial year 2025–26 and the Government was taking measures to increase it to 29,645 MW by 2029–30.
He said the State Government was implementing the PM-KUSUM scheme effectively with the objective of strengthening the economic condition of farmers. Under this scheme, farmers can establish solar power plants on their agricultural and barren lands and earn additional income by selling the generated electricity to DISCOMs, he said.
Musharraf Faruqui addressed farmers at a special programme organised by the Energy Department at Manchal village in Ibrahimpatnam mandal of Rangareddy here on Thursday. Under the PM-KUSUM-A scheme, farmers can establish solar power plants with capacities ranging from 0.5 MW to 2.0 MW on their lands.
He explained that approximately 3.5 acres of land were required for setting up a 1 MW plant. Small and marginal farmers can also form groups of two or three members to establish such plants jointly.
To encourage participation in the scheme, the State Government was offering several incentives, including exemption from NALA conversion charges, 50 percent SGST reimbursement, exemption from Pollution Control Board (PCB) NOC, and 100 percent exemption from electricity duty.
