Officials from TGSPDCL and Transco met with leaders of the 1104 Electricity Employees Union to discuss long-pending demands. Though the talks ended without resolution, both sides described the discussions as positive.
Telangana is preparing for a projected power demand of over 19,000 MW during the Rabi and summer seasons. Officials have announced major upgrades including new substations, transformer installations, and completion of overhaul works at key power plants. The Yadadri Thermal Power Station is set to add 4,000 MW soon.
In January last year, Telangana's peak power demand was 13,810 MW but on January 31 this year, it touched 15,205 MW. In the past, the peak demand of 15,000 MW was recorded in March and this year it has reached this demand much earlier
The CMD directed all the chief general managers, Joint Secretaries and all the superintendent engineers to change the abbreviated name of the company from TSSPDCL to TGSPDCL.
