Hyderabad: New electors and those who get corrections done in the electoral rolls in Telangana are set to receive new Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) after three months into completion of the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) and Telangana Chief Electoral Office (CEO) are making necessary arrangements for issuing new voter cards.

According to Telangana CEO sources, individuals who submit Form-6 (application for enrolment of new elector) and Form-6A (application for addition of overseas Indian) will receive an EPIC card.

In addition, electors who submitted Form-8, (change of residential address, correction in particulars, replacement of EPIC without correction and marking of PWD elector) will get new EPIC card with updated credentials.

Further, voters who have been flagged for anomalies, including mismatch of names and incorrect age between the present and last SIR, in the enumeration form submitted as part of the SIR process are also likely to get new EPIC cards.

“The ECI has to take a decision whether or not to give new EPIC cards to all voters in the State. However, individuals who submit Form-6, Form- 6A, and Form-8, will be handed over a new EPIC. However, it will take about three months post SIR completion,” sources said.

Young electors who attain 18 years of age on or before October 1, 2026, have been encouraged to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll through Form-6 along with the prescribed declaration. “All individuals who submit Form-6 on or before October 1, 2026, will be included in the final electoral list that will be published on October 19,” sources said.

Meanwhile, notices to voters and hearings as part of the SIR are underway. The notices are being generated automatically by a software which is flagging even if there is a small error in the name or other details.

Citing a notice served to Telangana CEO C Sudharshan Reddy for anomaly in the surname, CEO sources said, “There is no exemption from notices to anyone. Irrespective of the stature, all electors who have anomalies or who did not map with SIR 2002 list will receive notice. Such individuals have to submit required documents”.
