Telangana to unveil new clean & green energy policy soon: Deputy CM
It will address increasing energy demands sustainably and will outline a broad spectrum of incentives designed to attract investments, support developers, and benefit all stakeholders
Hyderabad: The State government will soon introduce a new ‘clean and green energy policy’ to address its increasing energy demands sustainably.
Speaking to the media after attending the stakeholders consultation meeting on clean and green energy policy on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramakra, who also holds the Energy portfolio, said the new clean and green energy policy would outline a broad spectrum of incentives designed to attract investments, support developers, and benefit all stakeholders.
The policy proposes reimbursement of Net SGST, stamp duty, transmission & distribution charges, and waiver on electricity duty, he said, adding that these incentives would significantly reduce the cost burden on developers, ensuring financial viability and encouraging large-scale investments.
The new policy would offer attractive financial support for setting up manufacturing units for solar panels, wind turbines, and battery energy storage systems, he said, adding that these incentives aim to establish the State as a manufacturing hub, reducing reliance on imports and fostering local job creation.
Stating that a single-window clearance mechanism proposed in the policy would ensure that developers could obtain necessary permissions efficiently, Bhatti said this process would reduce approval-related delays, enabling faster project execution and ensuring timely completion of renewable energy initiatives.
The Energy Minister said the new policy would offer 100 percent Net SGST reimbursement on rooftop solar so that every segment of society could contribute to and benefit from the renewable energy revolution.
Self-help groups (SHGs) and village organisations (VO) would be encouraged to establish solar plants between 500 KW to 2 MW capacity and sell power to TGDISCOMs, he said.
The policy supports the growth of local industries by offering subsidies for manufacturing renewable energy components such as solar PV modules and wind turbines, along with Green Hydrogen, he said, adding that guaranteed procurement by TGDISCOMs provided assurances to manufacturers, encouraging investments and fostering long-term partnerships.
Bhatti said the new policy would be placed before the Cabinet for approval.
