Mancherial/Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Two married women and a girl from a humble background cracked posts of teachers setting an example for others. The results of the District Selection Committee or Telangana government’s teacher recruitment test were announced on Monday.
Veerla Mounika, a constable from Budharkurd village in Bellampalli mandal topped the SGT (Secondary Grade Teacher) category.
She is the daughter of Vajramma and Ramaiaha, a farmer. She was married to Raju, a coal miner. She was selected as a constable and Panchayat secretary in 2020.
While working as a constable with Bellampalli I town police station, Mounika prepared for the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) and DSC-2024. She scored 77.9 marks out of the total 100 and stood in the top position in erstwhile Adilabad district.
“My ambition has been to be a teacher. I can mould talented students by venturing into this noble field,” Mounika told Telangana Today.
She attributed her success to encouragement from her husband and parents. She secured the second rank in an examination conducted for recruiting hostel welfare officers of which results were announced six months back.
She registered 184 marks as against the total 300 marks. She completed a Bachelor of Education (B Ed) course in 2017 after graduating in 2012.
Similarly, Chippa Sumitha, the wife of a tailor from Kagaznagar in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district was the topper in School Assistant category in the DSC. She recorded 81.18 marks in DSC and stood in the top position in Adilabad.
She cracked the post in her third attempt. She is currently working as a contract-based teacher with a tribal residential school.
“I could not pursue M Sc from Osmania University although I got a seat due to the weak financial conditions of my family. I completed my schooling at a government school. I was about to quit studying following the death of my father five years back. However, a teacher supported and encouraged me to continue studies,” Sumitha recalled.
Meanwhile, Angala Shirisha, whose parents are both illiterates from Andevelli village in Kagaznagar mandal, shined in DSC by scoring 86.17 marks in SGT. Despite failure in her first attempt made in 2017, she could make it to DSC-2024, making her parents proud.
