Hyderabad: All arrangements are in place for counting of votes in seven Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and nine casual vacancy wards on Monday with strict adherence to Covid guidelines.
Counting will be taken up in Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, Khammam Municipal Corporation and five municipalities of Siddipet, Nakrekal, Kothur, Atchampet and Jadcherla which went to polls on April 30..
Candidates, counting agents and counting staff will have to produce covid negative reports. In case any person is found positive, he or she will be replaced with another person, State Election Commissioner C Parthasarathi said in a video conference with officials.
The SEC has already issued instructions to District Collectors, police and health department officials to make elaborate arrangements for counting of votes in the ULBs.
Strict instructions have been issued to officials to ensure there is no gathering outside the counting centres. Victory rallies or meetings are not permitted and in case any candidate or party violates these orders, action will be initiated as per law, the SEC informed the officials.
Strong rooms are under 24 hours surveillance and they will be opened in the presence of candidates. The entire exercise of opening the strong rooms, arranging tables and maintaining physical distance will be video recorded and the copy of the same will be handed over to the District Election Officer and other officials.
All the sealed ballot boxes will be sanitized properly and in each counting hall, five tables have been arranged. Steps are being taken to ensure that not more than 50 persons are allowed entry into one counting hall.
Postal ballots will be counted in separate counting halls as per the Additional Returning Officer instructions.
Maintaining physical distance will have to be strictly followed in the counting halls. While accepting the final certificate from the Returning Officer, only the candidate and one other person will be permitted.
