Telangana: Ultrasound scanning for monitoring pregnant cattle

Khammam: Ultrasound scanning would be brought into use at veterinary clinics across the State to test pregnant cattle, Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department, Vangala Lakshma Reddy said.
He said besides cattle conservation measures, special funds were also being released towards repairs and infrastructure development at veterinary clinics across the State. In order to strengthen the department vacant posts were filled and promotions in different cadres were given.
Lakshma Reddy along with the District Collector RV Karnan held a meeting with veterinary doctors and animal husbandry officials here on Tuesday to review the measures being taken towards promotion of animal husbandry and dairy development in the district.
Speaking on the occasion he said as many as 260 Gopala Mitras have been appointed in Khammam district and fodder grass seeds have been made available at all mandal headquarters. Around 55,820 cattle belonging to 882 farmers have been treated at health camps.
Similarly Rs 1.44 crore worth sheep have been distributed to 16,324 persons associated with around 327 societies as part of Golla Kurumas economic development with 75 per cent subsidy, he noted.
Collector Karnan stated that the functioning of the animal husbandry department in the district was satisfactory towards dairy development. He directed the veterinary doctors to make efforts to take the benefits of government schemes to the farmers.
The veterinary doctors besides their regular duties have to focus on village development and educate the farmers to increase poultry and meat production. Care has to be taken to see that more farmers get the benefits of the Kisan Credit Card scheme, the Collector said.
He further directed the officials to launch measures to ensure enough supply of fodder grass.
The officials have presented prizes to the students who won in an online competition on the topic ‘Sarve Jeeva Sukhinobhavantu’. Joint Director Venu Manohar Rao, Assistant Director Bhanu, Satyaprasad and Aruna were present.
