Hyderabad: In a tense atmosphere marked by vehement protests by Group-I services aspirants and unemployed youth, there is uncertainty among the aspirants over conduct of the Group-I Main exams scheduled from Monday.
This comes as the Supreme Court is to take up a special leave petition filed by the Group-I aspirants against the controversial GO 29 on Monday. While the hearing is expected to commence at 10.30 am, the exam is scheduled to commence at 2 pm, raising concern among aspirants over smooth conduct of tests.
The issue stemmed from the issuance of GO-29, which according to aspirants, was violating the Constitution.
Earlier, the BRS government rolled out GO 55, giving a reservation policy, allowing candidates from SC, ST and BC categories to compete in both open and reserved categories based on the merit secured in the exam.
However, after coming to power, the Congress government issued controversial GO 29, amending the rule of reservation and restricting the SC, ST and BC candidates to the reserved categories even if they scored high enough for the open category selection.
The Group – I aspirants have been demanding cancellation of GO 29 besides deferring the exams, implementation of reservation rules and sought clarity over standardized textbooks for competitive exams preparation.
As per the TGPSC schedule, the Group – I Main exams will be held from October 21 to 27, commencing with General English, a qualifying test.
