Telangana’s new PDs & PETs Association aims to strengthen sports culture in Gurukuls

Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree and Junior Colleges PDs & PETs Association has been formed with a vision to strengthen sports education and student welfare. The newly-elected chairman, Dr. Rama Laxman, outlines key objectives to improve sports infrastructure and opportunities

Hyderabad: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree and Junior Colleges PDs & PETs Association has been officially formed with the vision to strengthen sports education, ensure professional representation, and promote holistic student development across Telangana Gurukuls.

“The association serves as a common platform for addressing professional and institutional challenges faced by Physical Directors (PDs) and Physical Education Teachers (PETs), while striving to enhance the sports culture through commitment, discipline, and teamwork,” said the newly-elected chairman, Dr. Rama Laxman.


“Some of the main objectives are to promote excellence in sports through structured training, improved infrastructure, and coordinated institutional support for Gurukul students; to ensure fair representation of PDs and PETs in administrative and policy-level decisions concerning physical education and sports; to focus on student welfare, fitness enhancement, and the creation of opportunities for sports careers; and to address key departmental issues such as staff promotions, resource allocation, and working conditions of sports personnel,” Dr Laxman explained.

“This Association will function as a bridge between the management and field-level sports educators, fostering teamwork, discipline, and dedication for the advancement of sports and student welfare in Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions,” he added.
