Telangana’s SR University ranked among top 1000 in THE World University Rankings–2026

Hanamkonda: SR University (SRU) in Hanamkonda has secured a place in the 801–1000 band in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, the university Chancellor A Varadha Reddy said SRU, the youngest university in India, entered into the global ranking system for the first time placing it among the world’s leading institutions of higher learning.
This global recognition follows closely on the heels of the recently announced NIRF 2025 Rankings, in which SR University secured the 91st rank in the Engineering category and was placed in the 101–150 band in the university category.
The THE-World University Rankings released during the recent World Academic Summit held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia were recognised as one of the most credible international benchmarks for evaluating university performance based on 17 calibrated indicators.
SR University’s inclusion in the 801–1000 band places it among the top 28 universities in India, 10th among private universities nationwide and the only private university from Telangana to be ranked in the top 1000 global universities, Varada Reddy noted.
He congratulated faculty, staff and students for their efforts and dedication that contributed to this achievement. SRU maintains the highest standards of quality in teaching and learning, equipping students with industry-ready skills imparted by well-qualified faculty.
The SRU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Deepak Garg stated that the ranking stands as a testament to SRU’s strong academic foundation and global outlook. SRU faculty has international exposure. Research quality, innovation and collaboration helped the university to get global recognition.
The institution’s research has resulted in over 5,000 publications, 1,000 patents published, 50 plus patents granted and Rs 15 crore in research funding from 50 plus sponsored projects. Over 150 companies recruit the university students and the highest package was Rs 51 LPA from Microsoft, Prof. Garg said.
