Telangana’s T-Wallet marks 8 years with Rs 35,000 crore in transactions and 16 lakh users
India’s first State-run digital wallet, T Wallet, has completed eight years with over 16 lakh users and Rs 34,991 crore in transactions. Integrated across Telangana’s service points, it enables IMPS transfers, utility payments, and seamless banking even in rural areas.

Hyderabad: When it was launched on June 1, 2017, T- Wallet was India’s first State-managed digital wallet. The Telangana government had introduced the revolutionary digital payment service to facilitate citizens use the T Wallet for making both government and private transactions.
Since the launch in 2017, T Wallet, has now registered 16 lakh users and processed over four crore transactions in its eight-year journey. Introduced during the 2016 demonetization, T Wallet continues to drive digital payments across the State.
T Wallet is also integrated with MeeSeva’s over 4,500 centers and about 11,000 Fair Price Shops, ensuring accessibility in remote and rural areas.
It extends 1,242 services covering 74 departments.
Its flagship Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) feature allows direct bank account transfers, setting it apart from traditional wallets that rely on peer-to-peer transactions or UPI, and offering round the clock availability for seamless banking integration.
Apart from IMPS-based bank transfers, people are using T Wallet for utility bill payments, service fee payments, and merchant transactions. People can use it via mobile app, web, or assisted services for those without mobile access.
Among the many utility bill payment services, people have used T-Wallet predominantly for making TGSPDCL, TGNPDCL, E-Challan payments.
The Telangana government’s Electronic Service Delivery (ESD) wing under the ITE&C Department said Rs.34,991 crore worth amount was transacted so far using this platform.
