Hyderabad: K Niharika, a resident of Saidabad, who is pursuing medicine at Zaporophye city in Ukraine, said the Internet and all other communication systems were down for major part of Thursday.
In a text message to her father K Krishnadas, she said: “I am safe. Since the Internet is down, I may not be able to send messages but do not panic. Let’s pray and hope everything and everyone will be safe and ok,” she said.
Another Telugu student, S Samhita, a medicine student from Kyiv Medical University, said the situation in Ukraine had worsened beyond imagination.
She was expected to fly back home as she would have completed the course in three months. “Since the last 10 to 15 days, we are all tensed as there were clear indications that war would take place. But today around 5 am, two blasts occurred at Kyiv Centre and after an hour two more blasts occurred at Brovary,” said Samhita in a video message.
“This led to a lot of panic among the students. At present, the situation at our place is relatively better and we have arranged vegetables and provisions to meet our requirements for two weeks,” she said, adding: “Though we want to fly back home, all the flights have been cancelled. We are literally clueless.”
