Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday when several unemployed youth attempted to enter the premises, demanding that the Congress government fulfil its promise of filling vacancies in various departments. Police took them into preventive custody.
The protesters said they intended to submit a representation to Congress leaders at Gandhi Bhavan and had no plan to lay siege. However, police personnel deployed at the venue since morning blocked their entry at the gates.
As the youth tried to push their way in, police stopped them, leading to a traffic disruption in the area. Even when some displayed copies of their representation, they were denied entry.
Raising slogans against the Congress government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the youth demanded that recruitment notifications be issued as per the job calendar presented in the State Assembly last year.
They urged the government to immediately release Group I, II and III notifications. “We are not demanding any new jobs. All we want is the Congress government to issue notifications as promised in the Assembly and during the elections,” they said.
