Mahabubabad/Warangal Urban: Tension prevailed at Tejavath Ramsingh Thanda of Gudur mandal in the district on Friday evening as relatives of Boda Sunil (28), who died at NIMS, Hyderabad, while undergoing treatment on Friday morning, staged a protest demanding that the State government pay compensation of Rs one crore and an executive level job to Sunil’s elder brother Srinivas.
They refused to perform the final rites and did not allow the body to be taken out from the ambulance. Sunil attempted suicide by consuming pesticide as he was “depressed over the lack of job notification.” He was rushed to the MGM Hospital in ‘108’ ambulance after his friends saw a selfie video posted by him on social media. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to NIMS, Hyderabad, where he breathed his last.
In the selfie video, Sunil said he had cleared the police constable and SI exams but did not get the job as his height was less than the prescribed one. “I wanted to become an IAS officer, but ending life,” he said in the video. His elder brother Srinivas is working as a lecturer in a private college in Warangal.
Meanwhile, Mulugu MLA Seethakka along with Congress workers, BJP leaders Jatothu Hussain Naik, Rakesh Reddy and others also staged a protest along with the villagers. They demanded that the State government do justice to the family of Sunil. “The government must pay Rs one crore compensation and an executive officer job to Sunil’s brother besides releasing notifications to fill the one lakh jobs in the State,” they added.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Nandyala Koti Reddy, who reached the village, tried to pacify the agitating people stating that the State government was ready to offer a job in the tribal welfare department, and also sanction a double bedroom house besides paying compensation of Rs one lakh.
But the relatives of the deceased turned down his offer and demanded that Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod come to them and make the promise on their demands. TRS MLA from Mahabubabad Banothu Shankar Naik expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members and assured to help the family.
Meanwhile, the police arrested scores of members of students unions who tried to lay siege to the house of Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao in Hanamkonda after coming to know about the death of Sunil.
