Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), in collaboration with Evey Trans Pvt. Ltd., on Wednesday flagged off 65 new electric buses from the Ranigunj Depot under the TGSRTC 500 Low-Floor City Bus Project.

The 65 buses are part of the 100-bus allocation planned for the Ranigunj Depot, which now joins the CNT, Miyapur, HCU, and Hayatnagar depots as one of the five key centres operating under the project.

The electric buses will operate on major routes connecting nearly 373 colonies in Secunderabad, Kondapur, Isnapur, Borabanda, Ramayampet, Gachibowli, and Miyapur, significantly improving daily commute convenience.

The newly inducted electric buses are equipped with lithium-ion batteries, regenerative braking, intelligent transport systems with real-time tracking, fire detection and suppression systems, and advanced motor and controller technology.

With a seating capacity of 36, the buses offer pneumatic doors, automated announcements, digital display boards, USB charging points, and special accessibility features for the elderly and differently abled.

The TGSRTC 500-bus initiative comprises 450 non-AC and 50 AC low-floor electric city buses. So far, 325 buses have been delivered, and the remaining 175 buses are scheduled for induction by January 2026.

Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar, VC and MD, TGSRTC Y Nagi Reddy, Mayor of Hyderabad Gadwal Vijaya Lakshmi and others were present.
