Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday flagged off 400 electric buses, taking the number of such buses to 800 in the national capital.
The idea is to have these buses deployed in different localities, with a focus on the IT Corridor, that are not linked with the mass transport projects.
The 50 intercity coach eletric buses, which are fully air-conditioned and can travel a distance of more than 325 km on a single charge, will operate between the Hyderabad and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
TSRTC officials are planning to get around 630 new buses, in a phased-wise manner, and add to the present passenger vehicle fleet, starting this December.
