Hyderabad: Despite the booming café culture in Sainikpuri, The Coffee Cup remains the evergreen favourite for coffee connoisseurs in the area. But ever wondered what makes the café so successful even though it has stiff competition from other new coffee bars in the locality?
The Sainikpuri stretch has a variety of relatively new cafes and the area is buzzing with activity over the weekends. From teenagers, couples and families to huge groups celebrating birthdays and other special occasions, it has become almost impossible to find seating at any of these cafes during holidays.
The Coffee Cup is often credited to have started the café culture in the Sainikpuri area. “We started way back in 2010, and during that time there were just one or two cafes in the area. We have our very own loyal customers who have been visiting the café since then. In a way, we are happy that new cafes are cropping up because it is good for the market as a whole. People from other parts of the city are coming to this side not just for eateries, but to shop and even invest in properties,” shares Venkat, the manager of The Coffee Cup.
The café is known not just for its food but ambience, friendly staff, books, board games and live events as well. Artists can even display and sell their art at the cafe.
Post Covid-19 lockdowns and vaccinations, things are getting back to normal, shares Venkat. “We never compromise on food and service quality. We keep experimenting with our menu every three-six months and even welcome customer suggestions. Right now, we have rice bowls and Neapolitan pizzas that are new on the menu. We will be introducing new desserts pretty soon,” says Venkat.
There’s a new Coffee Cup right opposite the old one, and Venkat plans to open more branches by 2022. “The person behind the interiors and the superhero theme that the cafe is known for is the owner Varun Sharma. He is into travelling and merchandise, so it’s all his ideas. A lot of people come to our cafe for the vibe,” he adds.
