Hyderabad: The recently released crime drama Mutton Soup, directed by Ramachandra Vattikuti, has been receiving encouraging feedback from audiences across Telugu States. Produced by Mallikharjuna Elika (Gopal), Arun Chandra Vattikuti, and Ramakrishna Sanapala under Aluka Studios, Sri Varahi Arts, and Bhavishya Vihar banners, the film features Raman, Varsha Vishwanath, and Gemini Suresh in lead roles.
Producer Mallikharjuna Elika, who has long nurtured a passion for cinema, said Hyderabad played a defining role in shaping his creative journey. “I was born and brought up in Tirupati, but Hyderabad connected me to the film industry. I’ve loved movies since childhood, which led me to focus on writing and making short films. My short film Badi Pantulu even won a state-level award,” he recalled.
He added that his mother’s dream of seeing his name on the big screen has finally come true. “It’s painful that she isn’t here to see it, but I’m grateful that her dream has been realised through Mutton Soup,” he said.
Recalling how the film began, he shared, “I had started directing a horror film when I met Ramachandra. His hard work and dedication deeply impressed me. I initially joined Mutton Soup as a co-director, but later became a producer inspired by his passion and vision.”
Since the film is based on real incidents, presenting it freshly was a creative challenge. “Everyone already knew the story, so we focused on the screenplay and editing. Though it was written one way, the film truly came alive during post-production. The final shape of Mutton Soup was born at the editing table,” he said.
Mallikharjuna credited the entire team for the film’s success. “Raman, Varsha Vishwanath, and Gemini Suresh were extremely supportive. Venky Veena’s songs and background score added great depth, while Bharadwaj and Phanindra’s visuals earned praise. Every department worked with commitment,” he noted.
Expressing gratitude for the response, he said, “Audiences are appreciating the gripping screenplay and crisp editing. Their positive reactions make all our efforts worthwhile.”
On his upcoming projects, he added, “I’ve started a horror film as a director and plan to back more projects with newcomers. Another film with Ramachandra is also on the way.”
