Third edition of bird walk festival to be held in Kawal from December 13 to 15
Forest officials stated that thorough arrangements were made to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. They anticipated the participation of 150 bird watchers, nature enthusiasts, and wildlife photographers from across the state, as well as from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Participants would be provided with accommodation, dining, and transportation facilities.

Mancherial: A three-day-long bird walk festival will be held in the Kawal Tiger Reserve near Jannaram mandal centre from December 13 to 15.
Forest officials said that elaborate arrangements were made for smooth conduct of the event. They expected that 150 bird watchers, nature lovers and wildlife photographers from several parts of the State, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra would participate in the programme. Accommodation, dining and transportation facilities would be provided to the participants.
The participants would be able to watch various bird species living at percolation tanks locally known as Baison Kunta, Maisammakunta, Ganishettikunta, and base camps at Gonduguda, Kamanpalli and Barthanpet villages located in the reserve. They would also be provided with accommodation at these spots.

It was the third bird walk festival to be conducted in the reserve by the forest department. Around 100 bird species were spotted in the second bird walk hosted on February 4 and 5 in 2023. A maiden bird walk was organized in the reserve in February of 2022, while over 100 bird species were sighted in the event.
Some of the birds spotted by the participants included Grey-headed fish eagle, Bronze-winged jacana, Alexandrine parakeet, Common teal, Woolly necked stork, Open billed stork, Northern pintail, Pied-kingfisher, Blue-tailed bee-eater, Red coloured dove, Indian nuthatch, Water hen, Eurasian wryneck, Common Iora, India roller, painted stork, river lapwing, green winged teal, woodpecker etc.
