Hyderabad: Adding another feather to the cap, the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) building in Hyderabad, colloquially known as ‘The Fish Building’, has made it to the list of ‘The Weirdest Looking Buildings from Around the World’.
Located in the heart of the city, the aquatic structure is the headquarters of the NFDB and is a unique example of mimetic or novelty architecture.
The gigantic fish building is constructed with a metallic exterior along with fins and bright eyes that shine at night. The building is lit with blue spotlights at night, creating an impressive illusion that the fish is swimming through the city.
Though the shape of the building received mixed reactions from the public upon its construction, the unique architecture has become a landmark, standing out for its quirky design that aligns perfectly with its purpose.
The other notable landmark buildings that have found its place on the list are the Longaberger basket building in Ohio, Crooked House in Poland, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood in Florida, and Half House in Canada, among others.
