Hyderabad: The long weekend is approaching this Holi and so is the travel season.
In case you have no plans to play Holi but make use of a three-day vacation, why not plan a mini-holiday in a less explored scenic spot? It is fun to head to a farmhouse or a resort for the weekend but this weekend, hop into the car and go on a quick escape.
If you’ve got a thing for camping, Pocharam Lake is a perfect place to pitch a tent amid spots with unbeatable vistas.
This place, located 12 kilometres away from Medak, is made all the more special by the glittering night sky above. If you admire the beauty of sunsets and sunrises, this is one of the ideal places to be.
The serenity and excitement will melt away all your worries and revive your soul. Nothing completes a camping experience like lighting a fire – to cook on. Pack your camping cookware and also some no-cook snacks if the weather doesn’t cooperate to build a fire.
A night camp experience in the lap of nature with good food, bonfire, music, and stories to tell is second to none.
There is a 100-year-old Nizam Bungalow here that is known as a haunted house. If you’re an adventure freak, visit this place at night time to get one hell of an experience. However, if your heart is weak, make sure you don’t pass by it in odd hours.
You can also visit the sanctuary here that is spread over 130 square kilometres. It is home to animals like a wild dog, jackal, forest car, sloth bear, sambar, nilgai, chinkara, chital, and four-horned antelope.
Pocharam also boasts of a reservoir that serves as a storage point on the Allair River and is also a favorite picnic spot for travelers who thoroughly enjoy fishing.
The place is well accessible by road from Medak, nearly 15 km away and around 110 km from Hyderabad. Medak town has many restaurants for tourists’ comfort. Take a basic first-aid kit with you. Carry power banks and don’t expect good mobile networks here.
