Three critical, 20 admitted to NIMS Hyderabad after consuming adulterated toddy

Hyderabad: Three patients, out of 20 admitted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) after consuming adulterated toddy, are in critical condition, while one patient has been kept on dialysis support due to a failed kidney, hospital doctors said on Wednesday.
The NIMS hospital doctors said one more patient, Krishnaiah, is planned for dialysis due to failed kidneys, while the others are in stable condition.
Of the 20 patients, Monappa (65) is on ventilator support, G Devdas (69) is on dialysis, and 51-year-old Krishnaih, who was shifted from Gandhi Hospital to NIMS, requires dialysis. Of the 20 patients, a total of nine women were admitted, the medical bulletin from NIMS stated.
The patients who are admitted to NIMS are G Monappa (65), A Ramulu (49), K Pentesh (43), G Devdas (69), M Yadagiri (45), B Narasimha (36), S Madhavi (42), Y Yobu (53), T Govindamma (61), B Koteswara Rao (58), M Pochamma (34), C Laxmi (34), Darupalli Prameela (46), Balamani (47), Oudagiri Sangamani (41), P Govindamma (42), S Venkatamma (46), Krishnaiah (51), Vijay (35), and N Shekhar (53).
All the patients were admitted to the hospital with severe dehydration and were immediately put on fluid resuscitation, which is a critical medical intervention needed to restore the body’s fluid balance and optimise blood circulation.
