Three-day ICAM5 -2025 gets underway at NIT Warangal
The third International Conference on Advances in Minerals, Metals, Materials, Manufacturing and Modelling (ICAM5-2025) kicked off at NIT Warangal, marking the Diamond Jubilee of its Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department.

Hanamkonda: A three-day 3rd International Conference on Advances in Minerals, Metals, Materials, Manufacturing and Modelling (ICAM5 -2025) commenced at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal on Thursday.
The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is hosting the event as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The central theme of the conference is ‘5Ms-minerals, metals, materials, manufacturing and modelling’.
It was inaugurated by University of Central Florida, USA, Professor Emeritus Suryanarayana Challapalli along with CSIR-CGCRI Director and Professor at IISc Bangalore, Bikramjit Basu, NIT Warangal Director Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, MM department head Prof. Ajoy Kumar Pandey and the conveners Prof. Uma Maheswara Rao Seelam and Prof. Brahma Raju Golla.
Prof. Subudhi highlighted the significance of ICAM5 coinciding with the department’s Diamond Jubilee, calling it a fitting tribute to six decades of excellence in teaching, research and industry collaboration.
Prof. Basu stressed on the importance of international conferences like ICAM5 in bridging diverse research domains and translating ideas into societal impact.
Prof. Suryanarayana explained how innovations in materials science-including synthesis, processing, and microstructural control- are advancing key fields like energy and electronics. He urged young researchers to use their creativity and purpose to tackle global challenges.
The inaugural was attended by over 100 delegates from four countries, 40 research, industry and academic institutions besides research scholars, students and faculty. Prof. Pandey reflected on the legacy of MM, while Prof. Uma Maheswara Rao introduced the conference theme and scope.
The guests released the ICAM5-2025 souvenir. The conference will feature over 40 contributory talks on materials development, sustainability, advanced characterisation and emerging technologies.
