Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Task Force on Thursday caught three persons on charges of illegally selling Amphotericin B injections at Pochamma Basthi in Punjagutta. Police seized five injection vials from their possession. The arrested were identified as F Kashaiah (23), decorator, S Vinod Kumar Naik (23), a private employee and Mohd Khaja Nizam (30), a medical shop owner. According to the police, Kashaiah and his associate, Vinod Kumar illegally procured the injections, used to treat black fungus infections, at lower rates and sold them to customers at higher rates through Khaja Nizam.
They claimed the medicines were for their family members who were being treated for Covid. They sold each vial at Rs 50,000. Based on a tip-off, the Task Force laid a trap at Pochamma Basthi in Punjagutta and nabbed them, apart from seizing the injections. The arrested along with the seized material were handed over to the Punjagutta police for further action.
Four held with Remdesivir
The Hyderabad Task Force on Thursday raided different places in Hussaini Alam and Afzalgunj and caught four persons on charges of illegally selling Remdesivir injections. Officials seized six Remdesivir vials from their possession. The arrested were identified as Mohd Akbar Khan (22), a male nurse from Bahadurpura, Mohd Muzaffar Khan (22), an optical technician from Bandlaguda, Mohd Hakeemuddin (30) from Asifnagar and Syed Sadiduddin (32) from Vanasthalipuram.
According to the police, Akbar Khan and Muzaffar Khan were selling the medicines at Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000 each to customers in Hussaini Alam. Hakeemuddin and Syed Sadiduddin, both diploma holders in Pharmacy procured the Remdesivir injections illegally at Rs 20,000 and were selling at Rs 35,000. The arrested persons and seized material were handed over to the Hussaini Alam and Asifnagar police for further investigation.
