Adilabad: Eight persons including three minors were on Tuesday arrested for allegedly lifting equipment of a pump house belonging to Chanaka-Korata irrigation project at Hathighat village in Jainath mandal five days ago. Two mobile phones, Rs 7,140 in cash and an auto-rickshaw were seized from their possession. Four more accused persons were absconding.
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said Kodipela Ganesh, Regunta Uday Teja, Jadhav Krishna Teja, Mohammad Imranuddin and Md Abdul Waseem, all belonging to different parts of Adilabad town, were apprehended for their role in stealing electrical equipment of the pump house, when they were trying to flee during a vehicle check at Bhoraj mandal centre.
On being interrogated, Ganesh, Teja and Krishna Teja confessed to committing the crime to make a fast buck. They admitted to disposing of the booty to Imranuddin and Waseem, owners of scrap shops. They revealed that they bought mobile phones using the money they got by selling the electrical equipment.
Reddy commended Jainath Inspector Shravan Kumar, Sub-Inspector Gautham and their staffers for cracking the case quickly.
