Three Nigerian nationals among 5 held for cheating in Hyderabad
According to the CCS officials, the gang including three Nigerians targeted youngsters on social media and lured them with lotteries and free gifts worth lakhs of rupees
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Central Crime Station police on Sunday caught a five-member interstate gang on charges of cheating people in the guise of lottery frauds and gifts.
According to the CCS officials, the gang including three Nigerians targeted youngsters on social media and lured them with lotteries and free gifts worth lakhs of rupees. “For transferring the winning amount and gifts, they collected huge money from people in the name of tax and other expenses and cheated them,” said an official.
The gang is reportedly involved in about 20 cheating cases in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda police limits until now. Official said nine cases were booked against the gang in recent times at the Cybercrime Cell in Hyderabad.
Following a complaint and based on technical evidence, the gang was caught from New Delhi and produced before the magistrate here for remanding in judicial custody.
