Warangal: Three workers of a granite quarry died after they suffered severe injuries in an accident at the quarry at Tharalapally village under Madikonda police station limits in the wee hours of Saturday near here.
The deceased have been identified as Chitram Chandu (20), son of Veeranna of Inugurthy, Thokala Mukesh (23) of Boddugonda in Mahabubabad district and Md Hakeem (22) from Bihar. They had been working with the Lakshya Granites quarry at Tharalapally village.
“They suffered serious bleeding injuries as a dumper fell into the quarry around 2 am on Saturday. The dumper driver Thokala Mukesh was unloading the waste boulders when the vehicle had overturned. My younger brother Chandu and Hakeem, who got into the vehicle to come down from the hill, had also suffered serious injuries,” said Chitram Hariprasad, who is also a worker at the quarry in his complaint lodged with the Madikonda police.
He also added that he along with other workers had taken them out of the vehicle and tried to shift them to MGM Hospital.
“While we were shifting them to hospital, Chandu and Mukesh succumbed to their injuries on the way. Following this, we have shifted the bodies to the mortuary at the MGM Hospital. Meanwhile, Hakeem, who was admitted to the hospital, also died at the hospital around 4 am while undergoing treatment,” Hariprasad said. He alleged that Mukesh had caused the accident by driving the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and appealed to the police to take action as per the law. Police have registered a case under Section 304 (A) of the IPC ( Causing death by negligence) and took up investigation.
