Thunderstorms lash Hyderabad, trees uprooted across city; HYDRAA steps in
A sudden spell of gusty winds and thunderstorms hit Hyderabad and Cyberabad on Sunday evening, leading to waterlogging on major roads and uprooting of trees in several localities including Quthbullapur, Kompally and Alwal.

Hyderabad: Gusty winds and thunderstorms were reported in several areas of Hyderabad and Cyberabad on Sunday evening. The accompanying rain also resulted in waterlogging of some main roads while in Suchitra, Kompally, Alwal, Gajularamaram, Pragathi Nagar and Quthbullapur, trees were uprooted.
Complaints of waterlogging and uprooted trees causing traffic jams were received at the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) control room. DRF teams swung into action and cleared the obstructions promptly.
According to a press release, 4 cm of rainfall was recorded in Quthbullapur, while strong winds caused trees to fall in 53 locations.
The northern part of the city received 4 cm of rain, and water stagnated on roads in eight locations. The HYDRAA team addressed the complaints and also cleared all uprooted trees by around 8.30 pm, it said.
