Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Residents of many villages in Sirpur (T) Assembly segment are on the edge following the killing of a woman by a tiger at Nazrulnagar in Kagaznagar mandal on Friday.
Dwellers of over 100 villages situated on the forest fringes and in remote areas in Kagaznagar, Sirpur (T), Dahegaon, Penchikalpet, Koutala, Chintalamanepalli and Bejjur mandals are living in the grip of fear considering the increased movement of both resident tigers and migrant tigers in the forests and agriculture fields in the last few weeks. They are sometimes forced to suspend harvesting of the cotton crop.
In particular, the residents of forest fringes in Kagaznagar, Sirpur (T), Dahegaon, Koutala, Bejjur and Penchikalpet mandals are spending sleepless nights, fearing tigers would attack their cattle in sheds at night. Shepherds are not taking cattle deep inside the forests for grazing as advised by the officials of the forest department.
