Adilabad: Sighting of a tiger on a road created panic among villagers at Thamsi (K) village in Bheempur mandal on Tuesday.

A tiger was seen crossing a road at the village. Motorists recorded a video of the tiger on Monday night and subsequently the video clip went viral on social media platforms . Locals expressed concern over the movement of the tiger on the roads. They requested the officials to take steps to divert the big cat deep inside of forests and to prevent human loss.

Forest officials confirmed that a tiger, which strayed into the forests of the district from Maharashtra’s Tipeshwar Tiger Reserve in Yavatmal by crossing Penganga river recently, was moving in the forests of Bheempur in search of territory. They stated that they were tracking the movement of the tiger, while creating awareness over its presence.

They urged the rural folks not to enter forests for collecting firewood and any other needs. They advised the people to avoid sudden confrontation with the tiger. They suggested the farmers enter cotton fields after 10 am and to leave the farms by 4 pm. They also told the cotton growers to move in groups.
