Kothagudem: A tiger has killed a buffalo at Nallivarigudem in Dammapet mandal in the district causing panic among the public.
According to officials, the buffalo reared by R Venkateshwar Rao, a farmer, went into the forest for grazing on Monday evening and did not return home. The farmer went in search of his cattle and found it dead in a maize field on the outskirts of the village and found pug marks of a tiger.
He then alerted forest officials, who on Tuesday, visited the spot and confirmed the movement of a tiger in the forest near the village. The local FRO Srinivas Rao speaking to the media said the residents of Nagupalli, Srirampuram, Mondivarre and Nallivarigudem have been asked to be on the alert and not to go into the forests. The shepherds were cautioned against taking cattle into the forests for grazing, he added.
