Tiger sighting sparks panic near opencast mining project in Asifabad
A tiger was spotted near an opencast coal mining project in Kairiguda village, Goleti mandal, sparking fear among locals and workers. The animal's video went viral, prompting appeals to forest officials to ensure public safety.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The sighting of a tiger at an opencast coal mining project at Kairiguda village in Goleti mandal created panic among locals on Sunday.
Employees of the mining project captured a video of the tiger, which was widely circulated on social media. Following the incident, both workers and residents expressed concern for their safety and appealed to forest officials to divert the tiger towards dense forest areas to prevent any loss of human life.
Forest officials urged locals and employees to exercise caution and avoid sudden encounters with the wild animal. They advised residents to move in groups while carrying out farm activities and to make noise to deter the animal. The officials further stated that CCTV camera traps would be installed and animal trackers deployed to monitor the tiger’s movement.
