Mancherial: Doctors at Touch Hospitals, a newly established superspecialty hospital, successfully performed a rare surgery on a 95-year-old woman patient who underwent open-heart surgery twice, by repairing an intertrochanteric fracture, here on Wednesday.
Dr Omprakash Thumma, senior orthopedic surgeon, Dr Ramesh L Rathod, cardiologist and Dr M Venkateshwarlu, critical care specialist of the hospitals told pressmen that they performed the surgery on Kuduka Lingamma, who had intertrochanteric fracture. “It was a high risk case, considering the age as she had two cardiac events. We succeeded in fixing the fracture without affecting her heart,” they claimed.
The doctors stated that the elderly woman was now easily walking with the help of a walker, following 12 hours after the complex surgery. Anti-platelet drugs were applied and a cardiologist was deployed while performing the surgery. The rare yet tough surgery was carried out for the first time in Mancherial town. The credit goes to a team of experienced and dedicated doctors working with the hospital, they explained.
Dr Omprakash said that the cost of the surgery was about 50 percent lower than that charged by corporate hospitals of Hyderabad and other cities of Telangana. “We took up the woman who was rejected by several hospitals in the State and district headquarters taking her age and medical condition into consideration. We are committed to offer better quality healthcare at affordable prices,” he added.
Mateti Srinivas, managing director of the hospital, Mattapalli Sampath Rao, R Venkateshwar, Gurrala Jankar Reddy, Sumana Raju and T Chandrasekhar were present.
