Toycathon-2021 grand finale inaugurated at NIT Warangal
NITW is hosting the Grand finale of Toycathon- 2021 as one of the nodal centres for the nationwide competition spread over three days from June 22 to 24
Warangal: Dean, Planning and Development, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, Dr Bangaru Babu said the main objective of the Toycathon was to conceptualise games that promote Indian culture and heritage while being more inclusive and promoting moral values. He was addressing the inaugural programme of ‘Toycathon -2021’ here on Wednesday.
The NITW is hosting the Grand finale of Toycathon- 2021 as one of the nodal centres for the nationwide competition spread over three days from June 22 to 24. Though the programme commenced on Tuesday, the formal inauguration was held on Wednesday. Over 300 students are participating in the event from various social media platforms.
Toycathon 2021 is an initiative by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell with support from AICTE and many other union ministries conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to come up with games and toys based on Indian Civilization, history, culture and mythology.
The faculty Incharge of of the Centre of Innovation and Incubation, NITW Dr. Sree Hari Rao Patri said that the students of all the facilities provided by CII to incubate and support their ideas towards innovation in every shape and form. Talking about the Toycathon 2021, he informed that it has 68 problem statements focussing on concepts like Social and Human values, Divyang, Fitness and Health and 13,297 users have registered for the nation-wide competition, with 17,770 submissions in just 15 days.
JVS Ramakrishna, Business Leader L&T Smart World and Sunita Verma Senior Director, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, helped all students in boosting their confidence in the domain of innovation.
Sunita Verma narrated the opportunities in the fields of Electronics and Nanotechnology. She focused on the strong commitment that innovators require and commended the students for their continued participation in hackathons, makeathons and other innovation competitions as she highlighted that this helps make the present generation problem solvers which would help a great deal in the progress of the nation.
JVS Ramakrishna, who is also an alumnus of NITW , stressed the importance of innovative solutions using minimal additional resources, which helps a great deal in solving problems without causing extra burden on the financial and other resources of the country.
