Trade unions in Khammam staged a protest against four Labour Codes introduced by the Centre.
Khammam: Different trade unions staged a protest carrying black flags here on Wednesday, demanding the withdrawal of the four Labour Codes introduced by the Central government.
INTUC president Kotha Seetharamulu, AITUC state secretary Singh Narasarao, CITU district general secretary Vishnuvardhan, TUCI district secretary G Ramaiah, IFTU national vice president Sadineni Venkateswara Rao and BRTU district president Pasha took part in the protest and addressed the gathering.
They stated that the Centre, with a mere stroke of a pen, annulled the rights that the working class fought for and achieved, rights cemented by the blood sacrifice of the Chicago Martyrs.
They condemned the government for formulating Labour Codes that favour investors and corporate entities, thereby reducing the working class to a state of slavery. They said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that these codes would be implemented nationwide from Wednesday (April 1).
The leaders urged workers to unite and wage a collective struggle against these anti-working-class policies of the BJP-led government, specifically demanding that these codes should not be implemented in States where the BJP was not in power.
The leaders issued a stern warning to the Central government, declaring that if it fails to reverse its anti-labour policies, the entire working class stands ready to rise in protest in the days to come.
INTUC leader Narala Naresh Naidu, AITUC leader Gade Lakshminarayana, CITU leader Navin Reddy, TUCI leader K Srinivas, IFTU leader Subhan, Palvancha Krishna, Avula Ashok and others were present.
