Adilabad: A licensed seed trader was arrested for allegedly trading spurious cotton seeds by renting a warehouse here on Thursday. Seeds and herbicide worth Rs 5 lakh were recovered from his possession.
Task Force Inspector E Chandramouli said identified the accused as Pabbath Ashok, a trader of Teachers Colony in the town. Ashok was detained for stocking the seeds and herbicide in his warehouse, when sleuths of a task force team and authorities of Agriculture Department jointly carried out raids on the warehouse, following a tip-off.
During the course of interrogations, Ashok confessed to committing crime to make a fast buck by renting a warehouse in Thirpelli area of the district headquarters for quite a long time.
