Two arrested for selling fake seeds in Kothagudem

The accused, Nunna Mahesh and Pallapu Tirupathi Rao, were said to have been procuring fake seeds from Guntur.

Kothagudem: The local police have arrested two persons and seized fake seeds packets during a raid at Anantharam of Julurpad mandal in the district.

The accused, Nunna Mahesh and Pallapu Tirupathi Rao were said to have been procuring fake seeds from Guntur at a low price and selling them to farmers without generating a bill.

Based on the complaint filed by Julurpad agriculture officer Deepak Nand; a team comprising Kakarla cluster area agriculture officer Prasad Rao, head constable K Venkataratnam and constable G Venkateswara Rao conducted a raid in the village and nabbed the accused.

As many as 115 seeds packets, a car, Rs. 13,000 cash and two mobile phones were seized from the accused duo. A case has been registered against them under the provisions of Seeds (Control) Order 1983. The accused persons were produced before the court, informed DSP Shaik Abdul Rahaman.
