Hyderabad: Trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy, who has been arrested and sent to judicial custody in sexual assault case, threatened to release private chats after the victim broke up relationship with him and married another person, police said on Wednesday.

Krishna Reddy, who was arrested by the police on Tuesday, was produced before First Class Additional Judicial Magistrate of Ranga Reddy District at Rajendranagar.

After the court remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days, he was shifted to Chanchalguda Central Jail.

According to the police, Krishna Reddy, earlier worked as Police Constable in Andhra Pradesh and later joined as IPS in 2025 Batch after clearing the UPSC and has been undergoing training from December 2025 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad.

The accused came into contact with the victim woman via Instagram in mid-2025 following her response to his post regarding his journey towards success in joining the Indian Police Service (IPS).

The victim is also a fellow IPS officer trainee.

“After exchanging contact details and building a rapport through conversations about his humble background, the accused and victim had entered into a relationship,” said a statement from Hyderabad City Police Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Rajendranagar zone), S. Srinivas.

According to police, throughout his training period at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) and SVPNPA, the relationship was marked by frequent arguments, emotional manipulation, possessiveness, and volatile behaviour.

The accused repeatedly threatened of committing suicide, displayed weapons, insulted the victim, made persistent demands for multiple relationships, and engaged in acts of harassment, including throwing, and damaging her laptop, creating fake social media accounts after being blocked, threatening to release private chats, and contacting her family and colleagues without her consent.

“With this unbearable attitude, the victim broke up her relationship with the accused, and married another person. On knowing this, the accused person started creating fake social media accounts after being blocked, threatening to release private chats, and contacting her family and colleagues without her consent, and indulged in commission of various offences stated by the victim and other witnesses,” police said.

Based on a complaint by the victim, a case was registered at Attapur Police Station under Sections 64(1) read with 63(b)(iii), 109, 74, 75, 77, 78, 79, 127(2), 115(2), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 66E, 67A of the IT Act.

Based on the investigation conducted in the case, the accused officer trainee was found to be involved in the commission of the reported offences.

Accordingly, he was taken into custody on July 28 near Aramghar X Roads in Hyderabad.

Further investigation is in progress to ascertain all the facts and circumstances connected with the case.

Appropriate legal action is being taken strictly in accordance with the law, the DCP said.
