Hyderabad: The Internal Vigilance Wing of the transport department has directed officials across the State to ensure that brokers are not allowed inside Regional Transport Authority (RTA) and Regional Transport Office (RTO) premises.

As part of a drive to improve transparency and eliminate middlemen from public service delivery, the Vigilance department has also instructed authorities to remove any unauthorised agents operating around transport offices

As per information available, the directive comes after instances and reports highlighted alleged involvement of brokers in RTA offices, illegal slot booking rackets and complaints regarding technical glitches in online transport services.

Taking serious note of these issues, the Internal Vigilance Wing has asked transport authorities to tighten monitoring and ensure that citizens can access services directly without the interference of brokers.

Officials have also been instructed to maintain strict vigilance over office premises and prevent any unauthorised persons from influencing or facilitating transport-related services.

To ensure seamless public access, transport centers have been asked to establish dedicated help desks and public guidance counters. These facilities aim to assist applicants with online registration, slot bookings, and fee payments, eliminating the dependence on third-party operators.

Supervisory staff will conduct regular surprise inspections and monitor office grounds via CCTV surveillance. Local transport authorities will also work alongside regional police teams to clear out touts operating from nearby shops and makeshift setups surrounding office perimeters.

“The department believes that eliminating the role of brokers will help curb corruption, improve accountability and make services more accessible to the citizens,” said C Ramesh, Joint Transport Commissioner.

The Internal Vigilance Wing has also issued a stern warning to transport officials, stating that strict disciplinary action will be taken against any employee found colluding with brokers or assisting them in illegal activities, including unauthorised slot bookings or manipulation of official procedures.

It has further directed all district transport offices to implement the instructions immediately and ensure that transport services are delivered only through the prescribed official channels, without the involvement of middlemen.
