Hyderabad: The Bar Council of India has granted permission for the much-awaited Tribal Welfare Residential Law College in Telangana State and sanctioned 60 seats for the first year. The admission into the new law college will be taken up in the second phase of the ongoing counselling and admission into law colleges. The tribal law college will offer a five-year integrated law course for students who have completed their Intermediate or its equivalent.
Around 39 of the total 60 seats are reserved for tribals, while another seven are reserved for Backward Classes and six for SCs. Two seats each have been reserved for Forward Castes, sportspersons and NCC, while one seat each has been reserved for children of ex-servicemen and differently-abled students.
In a statement, Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod said the State government was working with the goal of providing quality education to tribal students seeking higher academic pursuits. She said more such educational institutions and novel courses are expected to commence soon. “Under National Education Policy 2020, the Centre is expected to sanction a BEd college offering integrated BEd course and another Physical Eductaion College in the State,” she said.
The Minister pointed out that the country’s first Tribal Sainik School was opened at Narsampet in Warangal district recently. This is the first Sainik School to be opened outside the purview of the Defence Ministry. Further, MSc integrated courses in Chemistry has also received approval for admissions with 40 seats each sanctioned for men at Jadcherla and women at Shadnagar.
