Hyderabad: Taking up pending issues of the State with the Centre, TRS MPs on Wednesday reiterated the demand for establishment of a vaccine testing and certification centre in Hyderabad which has become a hub for vaccine production. They also raised the issues of pending railway projects and medical colleges to the State.
TRS MP BB Patil, participating in a discussion on the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professionals Bill introduced in the Lok Sabha, said the presence of a vaccine testing and certification centre at Kasoli in Himachal Pradesh, which was far away from Hyderabad, emphasises the need for another such centre in Hyderabad which is considered the vaccine capital of the world. He said lack of the testing centre was denting the growth of pharma sector in the city.
Seeking a government medical college, he pointed out that the Union government sanctioned 157 government medical colleges in the country, but none to Telangana State so far. On behalf of TRS, he supported the Bill hoping that it will address the future medical emergency situations like Covid-19 pandemic and bring quality health services closer to the poor.
Meanwhile, Chevella MP G Ranjith Reddy asked the Railway Ministry to extend MMTS services from Hyderabad to Vikarabad and provide connectivity to the town with Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad areas. He stated that the MMTS train services were crucial to the middle-class people who could travel for long distances at lower costs. He said the extension of MMTS services to Vikarabad would strengthen the town financially and encourage the realty sector. Responding positively, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said the project was initiated in 2004 and assured to complete it at the earliest with the support of the Telangana government in the State.
Participating in another discussion on the Juvenile Justice Amendment Bill introduced in the Lok Sabha, MP Manne Srinivas Reddy emphasised the need to provide more powers to the district magistrates to deal with the cases involving juveniles. He said there should be no discrimination against children under any circumstances and they should be protected from any harassment. He suggested for making amendments to the Bill for protecting the fundamental rights of children. He felt that there was a need for the Juvenile Justice Board to study the crimes committed by juveniles and their reasons, for complete understanding of the juvenile justice system.
