Mancherial: The Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA) has accused certain student and community unions of harassing private schools by demanding bribes and threatening management under the guise of fighting for student welfare.

TRSMA district president Damerla Siddaiah and general secretary Enugu Srikanth Reddy submitted a representation to Collector Kumar Deepak on Tuesday, seeking action against such groups.

Addressing the media, the TRSMA leaders said a section of student and community organisations was misusing their platforms to blackmail and extort recognised private schools.

They alleged that complaints were being lodged with education department officials over issues such as stationery sales and union affiliations, with the aim of extracting money. They also claimed that members of these organisations had in some cases resorted to damaging school property and illegally entering school premises.

The TRSMA also raised concerns over the misuse of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, stating that unions were filing RTI queries even though private schools do not fall under the Act’s purview.
The association urged the Collector to initiate strict action against those involved and said they would escalate the issue to the Ramagundam Commissioner of Police if the harassment continued.
