Hyderabad: The Alwal police arrested K Narsimha (60), the truck driver involved in the fatal road accident resulting in the death of a Nepali couple at Shivalayam Temple in the wee hours on Monday.

Officials said Narsimha from Mallapur was driving in an inebriated condition. They also booked the truck owner Mallesh for negligence and arrested him. The police booked them under culpable homicide not amounting to murder and sections of the MV Act.

“It is established that the truck driver drove at very high speed in a drunken state by knowing clearly that it was highly dangerous and can cause serious accidents. This amounts to culpable homicide not amounting to murder,” said an official.

Based on Narsimha’s statement that his employer was aware of his drinking habit, Mallesh too was booked and arrested.
