Hyderabad: Summer is the season to make papads at home without much effort instead of purchasing from the market.
This tangy Tomato flavoured papad recipe makes for a flavourful and delightful evening snack and can even perk up your simple meal every day.
Papads are deep fried until crisp or even dry roasted on direct flame until crunchy.
Ingredients
* Tomato : 1/4 kg
* Sago pearls : 1/2 a kup
* Water : 3 cups
* Chilli Powder : 1 tsp
* Salt : As needed
* Cumin Seeds : 1 tsp
* Oil : As needed
Preparation
* Take 1/4 kg of ripe tomatoes, and 1/2 a cup of sago pearls.
* Cut tomatoes and add it to a mixie jar and grind it into a fine paste.
* Grind sago pearls coarsely.
* Take water in a pan and bring it to a boil, add coarsely ground sago powder and mix.
* Add the tomato paste as well, and mix. Cook it on low flame and keep stirring it continuously.
* Cook it for 7 to 8 minutes on low flame and add a tsp of chili powder and mix.
* After it thickens a little, put off the flame, add salt as needed, a tsp of cumin seeds and finely chopped coriander leaves.
* Let it cool down completely. Grease a cover with some oil, and pour the mixture and spread a thin layer of it.
* Let them dry in a direct sunlight. After they have dried completely, store them in a container and can be used whenever needed.
* Heat Oil in a pan and deep fry them.
* Sesame seeds can also be added to make it more tasty.
