TS EAMCET 2021: Gear up for entrance test

Hyderabad: Students wishing to pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering, pharmacy, agriculture and veterinary courses, etc., in colleges in the State can apply for the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) 2021.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H), which is organising the TS EAMCET 2021, has released the notification for the entrance test to be conducted from July 5 to 9 with the test for AM on July 5 and 6 and the engineering test from July 7 to 9.

This year, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education and the university had announced that the syllabus for the TS EAMCET would be reduced. Seventy per cent of the intermediate second year syllabus and 100 per cent of the intermediate first year syllabus of Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS BIE) will be considered for the entrance test. The syllabus was reduced as the BIE had cut the syllabus by 30 per cent for the academic year 2020-21 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The entire first-year intermediate syllabus will be covered for the entrance test as students had attended physical classes during the academic year 2019-20.

Like last year, the entrance test will comprise 160 questions. However, this time, the university has decided to give 55 per cent weightage of the first year and 45 per cent weightage of the second year intermediate syllabus of TS BIE for the entrance test. Out of 160 questions, 55 per cent of questions will be from the intermediate first year and 45 per cent from the second-year intermediate syllabus. Earlier, 50 per cent weightage was equally given to the first and second intermediate syllabus in the entrance test.

This time, the university has introduced only English options in addition to the existing English and Telugu, English and Urdu mediums of entrance test.

Registrations through the website https://eamcet.tsche.ac.in/ are under way and the last date to apply without a late fee is May 18. With a late fee of Rs 250 and Rs 500, registrations can be done up to May 28 and June 7 respectively. Students can also apply with a late fee of Rs 2,500 and Rs 5,000 up to June 17 and 28 respectively.
