Hyderabad: In a major relief for candidates who appeared for the TS Eamcet this year, the cut-off percentage of 45 per cent marks in intermediate examinations, which makes them eligible for admission counselling, has been done away with.
They, however, have to pass intermediate public examinations and secure a rank in the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS Eamcet). The 45 per cent rule was temporarily relaxed on account of the Covid-19 pandemic, officials said.
Keeping the health of students as a priority in view of the pandemic, the State government had cancelled intermediate public exams this year.
Second year students were awarded the marks they scored in the respective intermediate first year subjects while pass marks (35 per cent) were given to those who failed in the first-year subjects.
The relaxation will also apply for Telangana Open School Society (TOSS) intermediate students, who were also passed without conducting examinations and awarded minimum qualifying marks. The decision was taken during a meeting conducted by the Higher Education Department here on Wednesday.
“In principle, it has been agreed upon that all students who passed intermediate and qualified in the TS Eamcet besides securing a rank will be eligible for admissions this year. The government will issue necessary orders in this regard,” officials said.
Last year too, the same relaxation was given as the intermediate supplementary examinations of the BIE and inter exams of the TOSS were cancelled and students were passed with 35 per cent marks.
