Hyderabad: Students appearing for the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) 2021 can choose English as exclusive medium of test. So far, the entrance test was held in two combinations namely English and Telugu, and English and Urdu.

This year, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) which is organizing the entrance test has decided to add exclusive English as medium of examination as an option in addition to existing mediums of test. This meant that students opting for only English language will have questions only in English. Students have to give their preference for medium of test while filling up application form.

“About 85 per cent students attending TS EAMCET are from English medium background, and rest from Telugu and Urdu mediums. On the basis of the feedback received from students, this time we will have only English as medium of the test in addition to English and Telugu, and English and Urdu as mediums,” TS EAMCET 2021 convener Prof. A Govardhan said.

This year, the test will have 70 per cent syllabus of intermediate second-year and 100 per cent syllabus of intermediate first-year. The entrance test syllabus was reduced as the Board of Intermediate Education had cut down syllabus of intermediate by 30 per cent due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“As decided earlier, 55 per cent weightage will be given to intermediate first year and 45 per cent weightage to the second year intermediate syllabus of the BIE for the entrance test,” Prof. Govardhan said.
