TS EAMCET: Over 22,000 engineering seats vacant in Convener quota

Hyderabad: As many as 22,679 seats of different engineering courses in the Convener quota were vacant after the provisional seat allotment in the special round admission counselling of the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) – 2021.
Out of 79,856 engineering seats in 175 colleges, 57,177 seats were allotted leaving 22,679 seats vacant. Of the total vacant seats, 21,467 seats were in private institutions alone. Interestingly, this time, 726 engineering seats in different university colleges were also vacant.
Students who exercised web options in the special round of TS EAMCET counselling were provisionally allotted seats and a list has been displayed on the website https://tseamcet.nic.in on Wednesday.
According to details released by the Technical Education department, 1,21,480 candidates qualified in the engineering stream of the TS EAMCET and 14,919 candidates exercised web options in the special round counselling. This year, 84,282 convener seats including 79,856 seats in engineering and 4,426 seats in pharmacy were up for grabs. Of the total seats, 57,400 seats including 57,177 seats in engineering and 223 seats in pharmacy seats were allocated to students.
In the case of pharmacy admissions for MPC stream students, only 5.03 per cent out of 4,426 available seats were allotted to candidates.
As many as 689 candidates exercised their web options but could get seat allotment. This apart, 4,674 students secured seats under the economically weaker sections quota.
Further, this year, nine colleges including one university and eight private colleges could receive 100 per cent seat allotments, while one college could not attract even a single student. Students who secured a seat allotment order must self-report online and make the payment on or before November 26. If candidates fail to self-report online or pay the fee before the deadline, the provisional allotment order automatically stands cancelled. Candidates should also report at the allotted colleges on or before November 26.
