Karimnagar: Choppadandi MLA Sunke Ravishankar on Sunday said the BJP government at the Centre was going against the spirit of the Indian constitution written by Dr BR Ambedkar.

Speaking after inaugurating a statue of Ambedkar at Garshakurthi in Gangadhara mandal, Ravishankar said Telangana was the only State in the entire country which had taken measures for the welfare of dalits including allocation of Rs 1,000 crore in the budget for employment of dalits.

To provide quality education to students belonging to dalit and backward communities, the government established gurukul schools and an amount of Rs 1.20 lakh was being spent on each student per year, he said.

To encourage dalit entrepreneurs, special training was also been given to them, he said, adding that through the owner-cum-driver scheme, dalit youth were provided cars on subsidy besides imparting training to them in driving.

Talking about tribal girl Malavat Purna who scaled Mount Everest, he said that she managed to set the record only because of the encouragement of the state government.

Dalit youth were given free UPSC coaching to crack the prestigious IAS and IPS jobs, he informed and added that Ambedkar study circles have been established at every district headquarters.
